Do you remember “A Song for Mama” by Boyz II Men? I used to love that song. Mostly because I thought I sounded sooooo good trying to riff like Nathan, Wanya and Shawn which, in hindsight, was a self-deception. 😜 But now I realize that the song caused a deep soul resonance that I wasn’t aware of as a young 10 or 11 year-old boy.
You taught me everything
And everything you’ve given me
I’ll always keep it inside
You’re the driving force in my life
There isn’t anything
Or anyone that I could be
And it just wouldn’t feel right
If I didn’t have you by my side
You were there for me to love and care for me
When skies were gray
Whenever I was down
You were always there to comfort me
And no one else can be
What you have been to me you will always be
You will always be the girl
In my life for all times
Mama, Mama you know I love you
Mama, Mama you’re the queen of my heart
Your love is like tears from the stars, yes it is
Mama I just want you to know lovin’ you is like food to my soul
Today’s post is simple. But those words mean something to me. They mean a lot to me. When I think of my mom and my Grandma Bear (in the photo) and my Grandma Christensen and my sister Briahna, my eyes get leaky. Add to this my amazing wife Mina (the President of the FMA – Future Mothers of America) and her incredible mother Maureen, and my heart is flooded with gratitude. It really does feel like food to my soul. I just want to say thank you to these women who are the queens of my heart. I am SO grateful for your sacrifices, your love, your faith, your ambition, your discipline, your examples. I hope you know I love you. I hope you know that you are the driving forces in my life. In all of our lives. Happy Mother’s Day.
Love,
Brydon
