Andrea Brett is a a singer/songwriter, arranger, poet, show producer and entrepreneur.
Andrea Brett is a singer/songwriter, arranger, poet, show producer, and entrepreneur. Andrea began performing with her own siblings at a very early age. Her mom would say, “You sing. I’ll do the dishes.” Her parents always encouraged the development of her talents and supported her in her musical studies. This set the stage for a lifelong love of music and singing.
Rejoice with your family in the beautiful land of life.
– Albert Einstein
She studied piano, voice, choral conducting, and music composition at Brigham Young University. In 1980, she married Tom Brett and the two of them moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where Tom attended Cleveland Chiropractic College and their daughter, Briahna, and son, Brydon, were born. Though her focus was now primarily on her family and motherhood, she continued to write and arrange music and sing with Tom.
After Tom’s graduation, the family moved to the Dallas, Texas, area where their son Garon was born. Tom and Andrea performed together frequently, and as the children grew, they began to join them on stage. Andrea homeschooled the children and music was always a very important part of the curriculum. Even as a busy mom, she continued to follow her passion for music. She conducted multiple church choirs and her reputation as a composer and vocal arranger grew. By the time The Bretts were ready to take their act to Branson, they had already recorded two albums, with Andrea as the vocal arranger on both projects.
During her lengthy stage career in Branson with Tom and their family, Andrea has worked in every aspect of show production including, music arranging, set design, wardrobe, lighting, choreography, and even bookkeeping!
Because of their passion for songwriting and original music, The Bretts have always featured original songs in their show, and Andrea has been named Branson’s Songwriter of the Year four times. A thrilling career highlight was writing and arranging music for The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square when the family performed with them in 2005 and 2006.
“I Am a Veteran”
Andrea has a special love for military veterans. Andrea has become widely known for her original patriotic poem entitled “I Am a Veteran.” This poem has touched millions and is routinely recited at veterans’ gatherings all around the United States. One of her most cherished accomplishments is putting that poem into a beautifully illustrated coffee table book.
Recently, Andrea developed “The Creativity Course” – a seven-week workshop to help people discover and expand their creative gifts. She also does personal creativity coaching. She is writing more music and poetry than ever and just released her first Christmas album, “Noel” – a collection of traditional carols she arranged for solo piano.
Though music and creating have always been a huge part of her life, Andrea is first and foremost a mom and grandma. Her role as “Mammy” is her most cherished one. Her happy place is the family kitchen surrounded by family and friends.
