Tom Brett is a singer, piano and guitar player, recording artist, vocal coach, and co-owner and co-producer of The Bretts Show in Branson, MO.
Tom comes from generations of family music. His grandfather had a beautiful Irish tenor voice, his father sang a rich powerful bass, and his mother, a concert pianist, still teaches 30 piano students a week at age 88! As a teen, Tom studied trumpet, guitar, bass guitar, and piano and started a rock & roll band with his friends. He loved the sounds of Elton John, Barry Manilow, and other artists of the day and he spent hours at the piano improvising and singing with a voice much like his grandfather’s!
After graduating from high school, Tom attended Brigham Young University and served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hamburg, Germany. He is still fluent in German.
Tom married Andrea Christensen in 1980 and together, they shared a deep love for music. Rather than choosing a career in music, however, Tom decided to become a chiropractor and opened his own practice in McKinney, Texas, and he and Andrea focused on raising their three children. Tom and Andrea still sang at weddings, country clubs, churches, and other special events around the Dallas metroplex.
Over time, the children joined in. Tom landed performances for The Bretts in virtually every major concert hall in the Dallas area. In 1996, Tom sustained a serious neck injury that sidelined his chiropractic career. During a very long rehabilitation process, Tom contemplated what the future would bring. It was during that time the family made their first trip to Branson for a family reunion. Tom fell in love with Branson. Through a series of providential events, Tom and the family followed a path that eventually granted them a one-year contract on The Showboat Branson Belle. That was the beginning of a career in live entertainment that has spanned more than two decades.
As the visionary leader of a show business family, Tom has been involved in every facet of The Bretts Show production and is one of the most respected businessmen, entertainers, and show owners in Branson. As an emcee, Tom has hosted benefits, telethons, and fundraisers. He has helped produce the annual Vietnam Veterans Benefit Show for 17 years and is the producer for the annual Branson Remembers 911 Ceremony at The Branson Landing.
Tom played and coached basketball for years and cherishes his time on the court with Brydon & Garon. He has always made time for church and community service. His grandchildren, who affectionately call him “Bumpa” are his greatest prize.
In 2019, Tom returned to his healthcare roots and opened NuVive Medical Center in Branson, treating patients with peripheral neuropathy and joint pain without the use of drugs or surgery. But music will always be a passion and he and Andrea are proud to announce the opening of a small venue in a beautiful room inside his clinic. “The Nest” will provide a platform for singers, songwriters, and creatives and will help grow the songwriting community in Southwest Missouri.
